Conveying emotion in a painting is essential. When I draw your pet, it must be your pet with its own characteristics and not just any pet. A portrait of your pet, of you yourself, or your children is not only a moving memory but also makes a perfect present for birthdays, weddings, Christmas and other occasions.
A beautiful drawing stands the test of time.
Coloured pencil is often underestimated. Unfortunately. It is a medium that allows me to work in great detail, layering rich colours on top of each other. The drawings are made on quality paper or board and I use only the highest quality pencils.
For the last two years I have also been drawing with graphite pencil. Uninfluenced by colour, a graphite drawing captures the essence of an object. And by using a mechanical pencil I can render very fine detail. I find this possibility very important since I strive for realism by mostly working from high quality photos. I work on a small area nearly finishing it before moving on; it’s a pleasure to see a painting 'grow'. A fully finished drawing can take anything between 20 and 80 hours to complete. |
